Call for Proposals: Water Resource Research in Alaska

The Water and Environmental Research Center and the Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center are seeking proposals for water research in Alaska.

Each year, WERC funds approximately four water resource-related student projects through the USGS-affiliated National Institute for Water Resources. Those funds are intended primarily for student research, and the project costs are generally capped at approximately $20,000. This year, through a generous grant sponsored by the the Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center, we are able to offer a parallel RFP intended to provide stipend and tuition funding for graduate (or undergraduate) students. The two-year student stipend/tuition grants are intended to support applied water resource-related research focusing on the needs land managers associated with the Western Alaska and/or Arctic Landscape Conservation Cooperatives. We anticipate that two of these grants will be awarded.

All faculty associated with the University of Alaska system or Alaska Pacific University are eligible to apply. Application deadline for both RFPs is 5pm AST, January 3rd, 2014. you may apply to either or both of the RFPs. However, each RFP requires a separate proposal.

Please see the full RFP for more details.
